Orion participated in recruitment events in early 2023: “Many people are surprised by our diverse range of career options”

In early 2023, Orion has participated in many recruitment events and fairs across Finland. Recruitment fairs are an important way to meet new talent and to spread the word about Orion as an employer with a diverse range of meaningful jobs.

In early 2023, Orion participated in eight recruitment events across Finland, such as Contact Forum in Helsinki, DuuniOmnia in Espoo, HankoRekry in Hanko, Luoti in Kuopio, Töihin Saloon in Salo and Yrityspäivät at Tampere University.
“Recruitment events are an important way for us to inform jobseekers and students about Orion as a diverse and attractive employer. We want to get to know them and hear their thoughts about Orion and their aspirations for their future jobs. We are also happy to provide jobseeking tips,” says HR Coordinator Meeri Hannula.

Making a positive impression

At recruitment events, Orion’s blue-and-white stand is a place for lively discussion, with jobseekers and employers keen to get to know each other. Many participants approach Orion’s representatives and conversations about job opportunities, job descriptions, working culture, sustainability or job seeking start easily.
“Orion is widely known as a brand, but is not so well known as an employer. People tend to think that we only hire professionals in the fields of chemistry and pharmaceuticals. Many people are surprised by our diverse range of career opportunities,” says Hannula.
In addition to HR representatives, employees from different business units at Orion attend recruitment events. They provide information about job descriptions in the following areas, for example:

  • Pharmaceutical production
  • Warehouse
  • Packaging
  • Research and development
  • Sales and marketing
  • Procurement

“It's valuable and rewarding to be able to talk to talent face to face. Discussions at recruitment events are also an excellent way to stand out from other employers. The Orion employees who attend recruitment fairs often tell their supervisors about promising candidates if they are given permission to do so,” says Hannula.

Summer jobs in the Phase1 trainee programme

For Orion, the main purpose of participating in recruitment fairs is to increase awareness of the company as an attractive employer. More specifically, Orion seeks to find suitable candidates for open vacancies and the Phase1 trainee programme for university students.
“Again this year, we are hiring 50 trainees and other summer workers, meaning that we provide many students with an opportunity to gain work experience in a pharmaceutical company. Some of them will also stay with us,” Hannula says.
