Orion’s gift to Finland

Two additional Orion 100 centenary grants, both worth EUR 100,000, will be awarded by the Orion Research Foundation for scientific research.
The Orion Research Foundation supports research in the fields of medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy and the related natural sciences, such as physics and chemistry. The foundation awards grants to young researcher in these fields, mostly for dissertation work and postdoctoral research.
In 2016, the foundation awarded around EUR 870,000 in grants to a total of 100 researchers.
In 2017, two additional Orion 100 grants will be awarded by the Orion Research Foundation, in addition to the grants awarded based on applications. Each of these additional grants is worth EUR 100,000. Their recipients will be announced in conjunction with Building the Future Together — AcademicMedicine and Pharma, a scientific symposium to be held by the Orion Research Foundation and Orion on 10 February 2017.
The recipients will be selected by the Board of the Orion Research Foundation, which represents scientific associations in the supported fields and the five Faculties of Medicine at Finnish universities. Risto Renkonen, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Helsinki, serves as Chair of the Board.
