Danish business acquisition for Oriola

The Orion Group division Oriola Oy signed a contract on 1 February on the acquisition of the business operations of Rüsch Danmark ApS, a healthcare supplies marketer, from its US parent company Teleflex Medical.   "An element of a more comprehensive collaboration scheme with Teleflex Medical, this contract will give Oriola a stronger foothold in the Nordic and Baltic countries. Oriola will be representing many of the US partner's products in these markets", Ilari Vaalavirta, responsible for the Oriola Oy Healthcare and Research sector, comments the newly signed deal.

The Rüsch product range includes globally renowned anaesthesia, surgery and urology supplies. The net sales generated by the acquired business operations amount to about EUR 1.8 million.  Through the acquisition, the five-member staff of Rüsch will be taken over by Oriola's Danish subsidiary Oriola A/S.
Oriola already represents the acquired business in Finland, Estonia and Latvia while the Lithuanian market will be covered as from May 2005.
Oriola has subsidiaries in Sweden, Denmark and the Baltic states.
Oriola's net sales during the three first quarters of 2004 rose to EUR 494.4 million and operating profit was EUR 15.8 million.
