Breast cancer is the most widespread form of cancer affecting Finnish women, and over 4,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. The most common symptom is a lump found in the breast. When it is detected early, the prognosis for breast cancer is good.
Women are encouraged to perform a monthly breast self-examination as an important part of looking after their health. Women aged between 50-69 years should also participate in regular mammogram screenings.
