Chemical Industry Finland has granted its Innovation Award 2010 to Orion Diagnostica’s surface cleanliness test, Orion Clean Card® PRO. The Innovation Award is granted by the federation every two years as a recognition of significant innovation with industrial application in the chemical field.
Orion Clean Card® PRO, a joint development effort by Orion Diagnostica and VTT (The Technical Research centre of Finland), is a new-generation chemical test for assessing and monitoring surface cleanliness. The test, which is manufactured by printing, is simple and rapid to use.
Orion Clean Card® PROcombines expertise in chemistry, material sciences and printing technology in an innovative way.
A vast potential for professional applications is offered by Orion Clean Card® PRO. The requirements for food hygiene, for example, are becoming increasingly stringent all over the world. Food legislation, both at EU and national level, requires self-monitoring and verification of surface cleanliness. Another evolving area is hygiene monitoring in health-care settings. It is estimated that about 50 000 hospital infections occur annually in Finland alone.
Orion Clean Card® PRO is also a breakthrough in the Finnish technology enabling printed functionality. The test is the first commercial application of this long-term development work.
