Orion is one of the best-known players in the animal health business in the Nordic countries. The range marketed by Orion includes both proprietary and generic products for production animals and companion animals. Recently we have opened sales offices in Eastern European markets where we aim to further expand our operations.

Products based on Orion's own molecule discoveries include Domosedan^® (detomidine), Dexdomitor^® (dexmedetomidine), Domitor^® (medetomidine) and Antisedan^® (atipamezole).

Domosedan is indicated for use as a sedative and analgesic in large animals, mainly horses, for surgical and diagnostic procedures by a veterinarian. Orion has developed an innovative oromucosal gel formulation of detomidine, called Domosedan Gel. The gel is administered under the horse’s tongue and therefore also the horse owner can easily give the gel to her/his own horse for mild sedation. The gel is always prescribed by a veterinarian to an individual horse and the veterinarian is responsible for the sedation and correct use of the product.  

Domitor is a sedative for small animals such as dogs and cats.

Dexdomitor, the second generation of Domitor, contains active substance only and thus decreases the metabolic burden in the animal.

Antisedan reverses the effects of Domitor and Dexdomitor, recovering the animal quickly and safely from the sedation.

In addition to its own product range, Orion markets and sells veterinary products of several international manufacturers. The product range from Pfizer, for example, comprises a variety of vaccines, a parasite drug for cattle, an NSAID for dogs, and an insulin product for the treatment of diabetes in dogs and cats. 

Janssen, Esteve and Pfizer are major marketing partners for Orion, promoting and distributing Orion's veterinary sedatives in markets not covered by Orion's own sales organisation.
