Orion expanding Fermion’s API plant in Oulu, Finland

Fermion Oy is initiating a major plant expansion project at its Oulu site towards the end of 2010. The new facilities are planned to be operational in early 2012.  The cost estimate of the investment is about 5 million euros.  Fermion belongs to the Orion Group and manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) at its plants in Oulu and Hanko, Finland.

The new facilities are being built for the manufacture of highly potent substances, mainly used as active ingredients in innovative medicines for the treatment of cancer. The production processes will be totally isolated from the production of other active substances.

Fermion’s plant in Oulu started operations 1964 as Medipolar chemical plant which became part of Fermion and Orion in the early 1990s. The present production capacity is in full use, run by 90 employees.
