Orion’s proprietary veterinary sedatives, Dexdomitor®, Domitor® and Domosedan®, and the reversal agent Antisedan® have been marketed by Pfizer Animal Health under a marketing collaboration arrangement covering an almost global geographic area, excluding the Nordic countries and Japan. Following the acquisition of Wyeth by Pfizer and the European Commission’ requirement to divest certain Animal Health assets in some European Economic Area markets, Pfizer has returned to Orion the distribution rights of the ‘DDDA’ product range in all those European markets – listed below – where Pfizer Animal Health previously promoted these products.
In the new setting, Orion’s own sales organizations are now selling the ‘DDDA’ products in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and the Slovakia Republic, in addition to the already existing captive markets Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. In the other returning countries, the distribution is being rearranged via new partners. Janssen Animal Health, a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica BV, is the new distributor of the DDDA products in the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. Janssen has already been distributing Comforion in the UK, France and Italy. Esteve Veterinaria is the new distributor in Spain and Portugal. Esteve has already been distributing Kefavet (cefalexin) tablets in Spain, Portugal and Italy.
Pfizer will continue to supply the DDDA products in other countries over a transition period until the new distribution arrangements have been completed.
