Discovery and Preclinical Phases

In the 1980’s, Fermion started developing API’s for use in drug discovery and preclinical phases. Since then, several products have reached the market place and are used worldwide in different therapy areas.

Today, Fermion is focussing on co-developing products exceeding a R&D-volume of approx. 1 kg. Earlier stage projects are carried out through a network of external laboratories which Fermion has built up over the past years. These laboratories are also used in some cases to supplement Fermion’s internal resources for process development, manufacturing reference standards, impurities and for testing novel synthetic routes.

Fermion believes that that this arrangement provides its customers with a unique benefit. Although the operations being carried out by Fermion's network of suppliers would typically range from discovery to Phase I, Fermion takes responsibility for the complete oversight and management of these operations.  Fermion requires specific customer approval before using any outside source for laboratory work.

Fermion has elected to target development compounds that have reached Phase II (and beyond) primarily due to the more advanced requirements.  Typically, customers require a significantly higher level of information and understanding about their drug candidate for product documentation at this stage.
