  • Central nervous system: medicinal treatments for neurology and psychiatry

In addition to these Orion studies and develops medicines for animals and product that have already lost their patent protections so called generics.

Renewed R&D model offers flexibility in operations and cost structure

  • In-house research covers mainly early research phases
i.e. discovery, preclinical phase and clinical phases I and II
  • Focus on own late-stage research
    - overall number of programmes will be increased
    - risks of individual projects will be balanced
    - new early research molecules will be acquired
    - life-cycle management of own innovative treatments will be improved
  • Emphasis on research collaboration and partnerships
    - clinical studies are performed globally, Orion’s focus on Europe
    - partnerships are usually sought for clinical phase III at the latest
    - partners are important in marketing authorisation cases in countries outside
      Europe
