Sauli Niinistö talks about veterinary medicines

Name: Sauli Niinistö
Duty: Head of Region Nordic, Animal Health
Location: Turku
Orioneer since: 2005

Life has taken Sauli Niinistö in many directions, but Orion has been close to Sauli throughout his career.

After graduating from the Faculty of Forestry and Agriculture, Sauli was employed by Hiven Oy, then a subsidiary of Orion. He went on to become sales director of veterinary medicines at Orion in 2005. In autumn 2008, Sauli’s field of responsibilities expanded from one country to four, when he took over as head of the Nordic countries.

One of the company’s strengths, in his view, is its atmosphere that encourages career development.

– As a company, Orion offers interesting jobs and career paths. It is possible to apply for different duties within the company, he explains.

Sauli Niinistö sees communication as a way to promote and influence matters. It is also a way to enhance the well-being of animals and people.

– Our communication on products must be understandable to customers. They have to know when and how a drug is used and be capable of seeking advice. We must also be approachable so that the threshold for questions remains low.

In addition to communication skills, Sauli’s duties call for an analytic mind and creativity. The role of superior sets its own requirements

– The company’s values, tools and regulations govern operations, but you also have to put yourself into play. Ultimately, it is the superior who makes the decisions and carries the responsibility, but that is preceded by dialogue to create a wider understanding of matters.

Open interaction is one of the prerequisites for job satisfaction in Sauli’s opinion.

– It is easy to work here: people collaborate in earnest. It is rewarding to see the results, he says.
