– The supply chain is tremendously important nowadays. You can’t even imagine through how many hands even a simple product passes, Dattaram Padate says.

He is in charge of purchases in India, from where tablets and capsules are imported to Europe.

– My responsibility is to deliver the right-quality products on time and at the lowest possible cost. I monitor things closely on site. That would be difficult to do from Finland, Dattaram says.
 
Fluent English is necessary in order to communicate. A knowledge of India’s culture, languages and way of doing things helps you to succeed in your work.

– An international employee should be adaptable. For example, the concept of time varies: in Finland you always need to be sharp on time.

Dattaram was well received when he first started at Orion. Already during his first weeks at work, he was impressed by the professionalism he encountered.

– Here they see the bigger picture. I believe that the company will grow in the future and that I will grow along with it.

Dattaram did not end up in the pharmaceutical industry by coincidence.

– I like working in this field because it gives me a sense of doing something good for humanity. Doctors are highly respected in India. In the supply chain, we are able to participate in their efforts to save a person from illness.
